SafeGuard Response Program (2 Days)
The SafeGuard Response Program aims to enhance workplace security by providing selected business owners, managers, and employees with access to handguns for self-defense in the event of an active shooter incident. Participants may either carry these handguns discreetly (“deep carry”) or store them in a lockbox for quick access if needed. This program is designed to equip key personnel with the means to protect coworkers and customers, offering an additional layer of defense until law enforcement arrives.
If a gunman were to walk through your door tomorrow, what measures are in place to protect your staff and customers? Lawbreakers, by definition, do not follow the rules; this is why prisons and court dockets overflow. While debates continue about solutions, immediate steps need to be taken to safeguard your environment. The SafeGuard Response Program equips trained, prepared individuals with the knowledge, confidence, and skills to respond effectively.
The class provides comprehensive training on key skills, including:

If a gunman were to walk through your door tomorrow, what measures are in place to protect your staff and customers? Lawbreakers, by definition, do not follow the rules; this is why prisons and court dockets overflow. While debates continue about solutions, immediate steps need to be taken to safeguard your environment. The SafeGuard Response Program equips trained, prepared individuals with the knowledge, confidence, and skills to respond effectively.
The class provides comprehensive training on key skills, including:
- Use of Force Laws and Carry Laws: Understand the legal aspects of carrying and using a handgun for self-defense in the workplace.
- Concealed Carry Draw Stroke: Master safe and effective techniques for drawing from deep carry in high-stress situations.
- Defensive Shooting Fundamentals: Build on the core principles of defensive handgun use, including shot placement, accuracy, and control.
- Tactics and Threat Response: Develop tactical awareness and learn best practices for responding to an active shooter scenario in a way that minimizes risk to others.
- Police Response Coordination: Learn how to identify yourself and communicate effectively with law enforcement to ensure a safe and smooth resolution.
- Scenario-Based Training with Simunitions: Experience realistic, force-on-force scenarios that enhance decision-making skills under stress and help cement the knowledge gained throughout the class.
Day 2 Classroom/Scenario Based Training
Suggestions:
- This should be a volunteer position to ensure participants are truly committed to the goals and responsibilities of the program.
- Selected participants should already possess a solid foundation in handgun knowledge, including safe handling, maintenance, and basic marksmanship. Each individual should feel comfortable and confident with their firearm, ensuring they’re prepared to advance into defensive tactics and decision-making under pressure.
- Prior law enforcement experience or military service is preferred.
- SRT Concepts can train volunteers with little or no experience.
- Owners may choose to display a SafeGuard Response Program decal at their establishment's entrance. This visual decal not only serves as a deterrent to potential threats but also reassures patrons, providing them with a greater sense of safety.
- To maintain readiness, participants can annually qualify with a 50-round course of fire, designed to ensure they consistently meet high standards. This qualification aligns with the same standards set for Maine Law Enforcement Officers, helping to reinforce skill retention and preparedness in high-stress situations.
